Anyone know of any in Wellington?

List childcare centres throughout NZ who support cloth use. List centres that don't support cloth use.

Firstly where do you live in Wellington?

Secondly if you have cloth just take it with you and state that you use cloth and will be sending your baby in cloth. Do the centre a favour by having them all prepared before hand and send them with flushable liners. Be accomodating and tell them not to worry about doing any cleaning or such. Just roll up and put in the leak proof bag you provide. They may want to oduble wrap a po nappy so maybe provide some plastic grocery bags. I found al teh creches in Karori are fine with cloth. Barnardos was fine and all nannies are fine as well. Just don't grovel. You are paying them to do a service for you.

Good luck. You'll be fine.

Ahhh well I went down to Early Start at Kaiwharawhara and had a look round, asked if they were okay with cloth and with no hesitation said "yes". And they can take Maya when I want to get her in. The people were nice and the kids looked happy!

Hmm- probably of little help with you looking in Ngaio but I know Kidzone in Newtown are happy with cloth.

Is there a grand list? Perhaps we could compile one if not?

She started last week and they have been great with cloth. One dirty nappy which was rinsed and put in a plastic bag in her wet bag. I have given them flushable liners to use.

yay that's great to hear, in 'lil ol' Bulls here they are more than happy with cloth nappies at both daycares, I couldn't imagine what it must be like to have to hunt out a centre that will use them

My friend rang around heeeeaps of centers the other day to check about cloth use. I'll get the list from her and post it. Most were ok.

I talked to the Vic creche about using cloth. They said they used to allow cloth but then ERO came in and told them they couldn't... so I'm going to look into the OSH regulations and see what needs to be updated in terms of using modern cloth.

Will try get that done tomorrow while Devily is in creche. 8-)

It might depend on the space they have available for their change facilities.

Salvation Army ECE centre in Berhampore are great with mcn.

I visited the one at the polytech next to Massey, and got an awful response - first, "no we don't do cloth", then later, "I suppose we could do it if you can't afford disposables". Needless to say I didn't go back. That was two years ago, they may have changed.
