Celebrity guest, who would you choose?

Post by Kaz » Wed Feb 22, 2012 2:29 pm

We have a washing machine to give away, here in Christchurch. Who would be a celebrity someone to do the big prize draw?

People mentioned so far
Mayor Bob
Someone from the Green Party

I'm not very good on the celebrity front. Simon Barnett has been mentioned as being a good person to appear at the Dad's day.

Who would you like to see?

green party would expect the day to be full of greenie sentimental garbage that costs a hell of a lot more in the long run.

I wouldn't bother turning up.

I am VERY anti green party. I would hate politics to prevent people learning about cloth - there is a lot more to MCN than just the green angle.

Not Bob Parker!
I would much prefer someone from the Green Party. What about one of the local netballers?Julie Seymour lives in Chch and has a small child (no idea if she used cloth though)

Yeah, I'd keep any form of politics out of it - Mayor included. It's just an area that could polarise people.

I think Simon Barnett won some 'most trusted NZer' thing a while back. He'd be a safe bet. And Richie, of course :smt049. Actually Simon may be able to put you in touch with other possibilities. The few times we've contacted him for stuff he's been incredibly helpful.

Honestly - I toned it down a lot! I also posted what would (edited somewhat) go through my mind. I really have little to nil tolerence for them - another thread perhaps? I probably wont debate it though as I know that there are really good folks who feel differently than I do - it is not worth upsetting folks I respect over politics. **smiles**

When I think Christchurch and Celebrity, the name that pops in to my head is Mark Quigley.

What about Yulia Townsend?

 I'm quite happy to steer clear of politicians of any sort. But they had been the only ones suggested.

I'm all for eye candy

A Netballer or other sportsperson parent would be a good idea. Anyone got any magazines that they could look at to get some names?

 I've obviously been living inside a closet for the past few years

DH was just saying that Gary McCormick has a wee one (might be a year old).

Or Dan Carter being a newly-wed

Or SBW is dating Matthew's Ridge's daughter (though he's not in Canterbury anymore, so DH is being silly here)

DH also suggested Scribe but he might just pawn it off :smt005 8-[

Sadly, we can't think of any female athletes with young families in Chc at the moment  . There are a few former Silver Ferns with Canterbury connections (birth or study), and a couple are parents.
