Pea Pods

Postby Lily Jack and Meg's Mum » Wed Aug 09, 2006 9:26 pm

I am having just a wee bit of trouble at the moment with the fit. I think it may still be just a tad to big, although she is 10 and a bit kg. Also do you think the nap is trimmer in the width than other pockets like fuzzis? So my fuzzi inserts don't fit so well in it, but if I four fold hemp and then put the micro insert in that hayley sent they generally do ok. Be interesting to see has she grows and can fill out the leg a bit better.

Hi Pixeldust

Interesting you got a couple of different types of inserts - I thought they would be all the same, I hadn't gone through them all and taken them out of the bags to have a look! :-) glad to hear that the nap fits ok on an 8kg .. must be quite versatile - as the fit is quite large on my 10kg baby as well, so they are going to be lasting a long time! That is very good to know.

Did you look to see if any of the tags on the green bag say Made in China or don't? I'm just curious because all the Aussie made ones I have have the thicker hemp insert whilst the Chinese made ones have the soft inserts. I presumed it was because of where they were made but maybe not???? I'd be really interested to know how well the different inserts work, a comparison. I can't use mine yet to check for myself, still waiting for the baby *sigh*.

I looked on all three and none of them say made in china. Interestingly again, the (dark green) nap which came with the hemp insert is also a different fit. Significantly smaller in comparison to the other two though all 3 tags say medium.

Of 3 naps we've had 2 leaks today. The first it was left on too long I think, and same for the second leak. Too used to sposies in this house. My boy is a heavy wetter too.

I think I'll be adding a booster soon to see if I can get them to last longer than 2 hours. Not sure if I'll try them overnight just yet!

The fit is a 5 though, and they look and feel great! Photos being posted soon.

Mason in one of his new Med Pea Pods. Excuse the leakage you can see on one side - that'll teach me about leaving it on for too long!

Cute pics and gorgeous little boy!

Interesting about the different sizes .. must be different batches or something.

I've been playing around with the snaps a bit also and you can actually angle the top snap - so Pixeldust you could move the top row of snaps along a bit closer to the next one in. It's a matter of playing around and finding a good fit .. but I quite like it on the angle.

Just out of curiosity .. about how long did he have the Pea Pod on for?

Not too sure.. he was with my cousin yesterday afternoon while I was at work. Probably 2-3 hours?

Just remember too that the inserts are hemp and need to be washed a few times before the reach their full absorbing potential.

Well I have to say the sizings are rather large. Ella is 12kgs and fits a medium on the tightest settings, even then it could've been a bit firmer around the waist. I noticed when the insert (regular cotton prefold) was quite wet, she had some builders crack going on, and not long after I saw she managed to pull her pants and the nappy down around her ankles! Not something she does regularly! Im tempted to put some cross-over snaps on one wing so it fits better.

Still, I like the look, and no leaks with a soggy insert.

I didn't find these nappies very good.. almost drove us back to sposies in the end  After a few initial teething probs (us new to cloth etc), I thought they were great. But it didn't take long before we were getting major leaks, and we had the elastics go in several naps.

The fit was very big. A Large on my then 16kg girl was too big around the legs and waist, but not long enough in the rise

I think they are ok for the money, but would recommend that it's worth paying just a few $ more and getting quality naps from NZ WAHM's

I got my Pea Pod in the mail today, and its says it was Made in China too. It has a really soft, thin insert. Now this is my first hemp insert, so I don't mean to sound stupid, but how the heck does that hold liquid? Its so thin....espcially compared to my old flats which is what I was using in my other pockets. This seems way too thin for the nappy.

Size wise.......my daughter is 8months old, and I'm guessing about 9kgs and I have a small. With the insert in that came with it, on its smallest setting it kinda gapes at the tummy a little bit. If I stuff if with something else, thicker, then it sits a little better.

How do these fit younger babies ? :S
