Kissaluvs fitted nappies

Post by the nappy lady » Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:30 am

I thought i better put a space for people to comment on kissaluvs fitted nappies as there seems to be a bit of excitement about them now that they are in NZ and i would love to hear what other parents currently using them think!

I loved my little newborn kissaluvs (size 0). They were so cute and tiny and fitted my tiny newborn so nicely. I didn't ever use the umbilical snap-down, didn't really need to and I didn't like the lump out the front that it made.
I found these were easy to use, I mostly used a prorap or diaperap cover over the top. The one thing I didn't like about these is that they were not nearly absorbent enough so I found myself reaching for prefolds (pad folded in a cover) which were way more absorbent. If I need to use them again I will make or buy some boosters. I have heard snazzipants boosters fit perfectly. It is amazing how much new babies pee! They always contained poo well and I have to say it again, they are just SO cute!!!

I've got size 1 white and coloured (white probably were neutral but I bought second hand). I really like them, like the fit but agree I wish they were a bit more absorbent. If I bought some more I'd buy some boosters too. They are probably fine for a lightish wetter with no problems.

I absolutely LOVE my kissaluvs, I have size 2 , a blue and yellow.
I recently got a booster but there are not really necessary if you don't have a heavy wetter.

The only little thing about kissaluvs is that you have to be careful with poops because the poops don't roll off the nappy however it comes off with one wash and I haven't seen any stains.

I use flushable liners and polar fleece liners when I use the kissaluvs.
At the moment I'm saving a bit of money to get the newborn size for my hirekit from Nappy days!!

I'm so excited !! if the size 2 it is cute and I can't imagine how cute the size NB must be !!!

Yep quite like these nappies, and especially as an overnight nappy with a booster. They fit just so nicely cause they are quite stretchy. They are quite bulky but I guess that's what makes them so absorbant.
Agree with the poo problem though, but you get that with any nappy that doesn't have a fleece inner layer (have the same problem with Tot Bots etc).

These are my very favorite. Even with the soze 0, I never had a leak, even unboosted, at any time including overnight. It wasn't until I found you lot that I discovered that MCN are not just around for practical reasons

Has anyone tried the one size nap?

I have bought one second hand. I have been want to try this for ages. I was able to put it on Ben today for the first time ( need more covers) I fits really well is nice and trim and lasted for a few hrs as well. Has anyone tried them on a NB or small baby with the rise snaped up? I would love to make some like this for our new baby

I'm sure I've reviewed these, but I can't find my review anywhere, so I'll post again! (A review I did is now on the nappydays website!!).

Anyway, here's what I wrote to nappydays:

I fell in love with some Kissaluvs at a parent expo and just had to buy some for my newborn stash. I got three in size 0 from NappyDays.

My little girl was born early and small, but they fitted well straight away. I really liked how they have two “rise” settings.

Eight weeks later and we are very happy with them. We have had zero leaks (and they have most definitely passed the poo test several times!). Being a fitted, they do take a longer time to dry. I tend to line dry, then finish off in the hot water cupboard.

A lovely nappy, which is very easy to use and performs very well.

The only thing I'd add is that my daughter is now about 5 kg and still fits the newborn size, although she's on the last snap setting. We have been using the highest rise setting for many weeks now. Still very happy, still no leaks. I'm planning to get another one in the next size up (although our nappy stash is looking quite large now, so I can't really justify many more purchases...oh, OK, maybe just one more.... )

I am using them with a Nap naps cover (one cover to three kissaluvs, which works fine), along with various other brands of nappy.

Having used them for 10+ weeks now, the only downsides I guess are that they don't have a stay-dry layer which I imagine is less comfortable for baby - but then again the kissaluvs are made in a lovely material, and I change frequently (by choice - there is often more absorbency available, but I prefer my baby in a clean nappy where possible. An advantage of cloth nappying is that I can change as often as I like without spending lots of $$$!). We have had no rashes at all.

Having to use a nappy and a cover means I tend to favour pockets for middle-of-the-night changes or for when we are out and about, but this is more about fitted nappies in general rather than kissaluvs.

So if fitteds are your thing, or if you are keen to try this nappy type, I can definitely recommend this brand.

I've been using Kissaluv o's on my newborn since birth and I think they're really lovely. When I first got them I thought the snap setting was a bit odd, and the first time I put them on I wasn't sure, but they seem to fit really well and look soooo cute. I agree they're not the most absorbent but I change every 2-3hrs and haven't had leaks (with Bummis Super Whipser Wraps & Motherease Rikki cover). They're lovely & soft and really stretchy. Our baby was born 4.1kg so he doesn't have a lot of room to grow in them but they're just so lovely for these first few weeks. As for the stay-dry layer, I just put my own microfleece liner inside :D
