Designer Bums

Post by Dunners » Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:43 pm

I have been very spoilt! (ah hem, I mean Emily's been spoilt!)

Today a wonderfully presented Designer Bums cover arrived from Angie (username is zayarn on this forum, or skytower on TradeMe).

Oh it is soooo gorgeous! I love the bright funky design. It has a wonderful flap that hides the velcro tabs (Em isn't a fiddler, (yet) so can't test whether it prevents tampering, but it certainly completes the look nicely). It has wonderfully soft elastic around the legs and displays top workmanship.

My Mum was very impressed with it - she thought it was wonderful having such a pretty cover (well designed and excellent fabric prints chosen).

It's just going through the wash now, so we'll test it tomorrow/over the weekend for long-term fitting and leak guarding. I did put it on Em for a wee fitting and it looks wonderful.

Designer bums wrap cover

Post by embejo » Tue Apr 12, 2005 4:12 pm

I've just started using a designer bums cover, with prefolds and flats folded into pads.

I bought a medium for my boy who is quite chubby in the thighs and have found it's cutting in a bit around the thighs, and the back/hips where the waist elastic is. I have to say it's more likely my sons' shape is the problem rather than the cover, which is very well made.

No leaks overnight though so that's good. I'll persevere with fitting it differently (nice and adjustable)...maybe I just had it too tight!

Thanks Angie,

I've tried a looser fit, and so far so good! I think I was trying to get those velcro tabs to meet in the middle!! :? Just kidding, but it seems to be fine now that it's looser, and so far no leaks, even overnight....12 hrs+.

Thanks so much

Now my favourite cover

Post by embejo » Tue Apr 26, 2005 4:38 pm

Just thought I should update that the Designer Bums cover is now my favourite! I've continued to use it with pre-folds and it contains poo's (breastfed baby) beautifully (maybe that's not the best word, but you know what I mean!!! LOL).

I think being a disposable user when I first tried this cover, I tried to streeeetccchhh it really firm across baby's tummy (like doing up disposable tabs) and made it too tight.

Now, I know where it fits best and just do it up to there each time. It seems trimmer to me than the BSWW. It dries very fast too.

Just got my very first Designer Bums in the mail and can't wait to use it - it looks so yummy!!!! Fantastic quality sewing and such nice fabric. The styliest wool cover I've seen so far :)

Custom-made to fit larger size (15kg+)

Quality: Well sewn; quality materials.

Design: Effective
- The long velcro tabs work effectively.
- The fold-over tummy flap covers any excess velcro showing and keeps all parts of the cover soft to touch. Also keeps curious hands away from undoing the velcro.
The fleece/wool combination works very effectively - no wicking at all for a heavy overnight wetter. You get good features of each material but I do have to wash this cover after each use unlike a 'just wool' cover.
Due to the higher leg cut of this particular cover - it works best with a prefolded pad.

Price is good for the product.
Service is Excellent
Other Comments:
Print (cheeky monkey - is great for an older child!)
Angela is great to communicate with - soley interested in providing great products and service.
I love sewing and have plenty of material witnesses. ~Author Unknown

Ooooh.. I just received the Fleece/Wool cover called Butterfly Creek in todays mail. Angie has these listed on TM at the moment.

It's gorgeous!! The fleece is so soft I can't stop touching it. it's so snuggly.

Now I just have to wait for DD to wake up so I can try it on her.

I must have a thing for butterflies... I have 4 covers with butterflies on, some I loved so much... I had to have the same fabric in the next size up.

I bought a couple of covers to put in my hirekits, but i couldn't have them in the house 5 minutes without trying one on DS first, it wasn't even his size, but fit perfectly (over a snazzi one, no chance a sm would go over a 2).

Angie is fabulous. She is very friendly and answers questions really quickly. She doesn't seem to mind being pestered with questions. (not so far anyway!)

These are a great fit, everything contained, no leaks, wicking or compression. Great for nights too. And the choice of material designs are the funkiest i have seen. Unfortnatley she is not making these anymore. She is making merino covers tho.
Hirekits avaliable. 3 x NB/SM and a Med/Lrg. Especially on the West Coast or South Island

I just bought a Navy/green Merino wool side snap cover.

I just had to try it on DS today and had it over my one and only fitted which only lasted 5 minutes before he pooed in it so I had to change him but as I have only 1 fitted I put inside the cover a Prefold with fleece liner.

He spent three hours in the combo and not a single leak. Took the cover off and it was as dry as a bone. It fits DS excellent in the thighs (he has chicken legs) and just nicely in the waist with lots of room to grow.

See photo in covers gallery.

I just bought a merino wool side snap cover on TradeMe and love it! Initially I panicked as I thought it was going to be miles too small, (it looks tiny off) but it actually fits my chubby boy beautifully! I find it fits best on the largest snap around his legs, and second largest around his tummy. Strange, but I think his legs are chubbier than his tummy! He's just tried it for the first time with a Wam-Bamboo fitted and I did have to pull the cover up as high as possible as the bamboo naps I find have a pretty high rise, so probably not the best combo as I think the covers are fairly low rising, but Ben napped in it for an hour and a half and not a hint of a leak, so i'm very happy. The nappy was pretty wet too.

It's so scrummy, soft too!! I love it! :smt023

Noticed there's no recent reviews here, so figured I'd pop mine up.

Ordered a paua dyed merino side snap cover off trade me the other week, arrived a couple of days ago and I love it already. I'm using it with snappied prefolds, and it's wonderful! The colours are so beautiful. I can't wait till my bank balance allows me to buy another in the Fire colour. :D
