The business of being born

Post by penguin » Thu May 01, 2008 2:41 pm

Hi everyone,

Following the successful screening of this The Business of Being Born
last month, we have arranged a repeat screening!

Thanks
The BoBB Team at St Albans Playcentre.
Back by popular demand!!

You are invited to a second, private screening of The Business of
Being Born, a film that takes a critical - and some say controversial
- look at the way childbirth is handled.

Given rising intervention rates worldwide, including here in New
Zealand, this US film co-directed by American talk show host Ricki
Lake is a must-see for anyone even thinking about having a baby.

Included is powerful and emotional footage of women giving birth,
including Ricki Lake's own life-changing home birth. It also includes
interviews with obstetricians, experts and advocates about the
history, culture and economics of childbirth.

The film's fundamental question: should most births be viewed as a
natural life process, or should every delivery be treated as a
potential medical emergency?

Wednesday, 14th May, 7.30pm

at Heaton Intermediate School's Performing Arts Centre

Heaton Intermediate School, 125-133 Heaton St, Merivale, Christchurch

Tickets $10 via internet payment to St Albans Playcentre bank acc.
03-0854-0566980-000, with the reference 'BOBB' and your name. Names
checked at door. Limited door sales.

A trailer for the film can be seen at www.thebusinessofbeingborn.com
