Another quilting Q

Another quilting Q

Postby Plingie » Sat Aug 11, 2012 5:36 pm

So I want to make a quilt (eventually) that is some sort of wee block with lots of white in the sashing bits.

Looking at quilting fabric websites, they don't seem to have plain white but soooo many quilts I see have heaps of white on them. Am I best to just go to Spotty and get some? Is it with quilting stuff or just off a roll somewhere? Is there a specific name for quilting quality fabric?

Kona Solids come in various shades of white but I've not seen a great deal of solids here. Fabric Vision does have a range of cotton solids, I think they call then "homespun" and while the quality isn't quite as good as Kona it's still pretty good and I'm using it in our quilt. I do wish there were more solids available here, I really like them to set off a block and for my next quilt it'll be mainly solids that I ordered from the US.
I've seen them at www.fabricshack.com which does half price international postage; and I have a Kona colourcard here if you want to take a look sometime.
