where to get buckles for a SSC

Post by drlauren » Wed Feb 27, 2013 12:47 pm

where is the best place to get these?
I'm planning on making a backup for my aging ergo and another for a friend who is pregnant.
I want good quality buckles (so probably not what spotlight sells) in 2, 1.5, & 1 inches

I've found these places so far:
http://www.johnhowardcompany.com/Cat-Bu ... dware.html
http://cord-lock.com/centerandsidereleasebuckles.aspx

anyone buy from either of these before?
any other suggestions?

I got mine from the sewing centre in Kilbirnie (I think you are in wellington?) and they have been great but i think they were about $8-9 each, which is pricey when you need 4. I couldnt find them at spotlight at all.

Can't really comment, but you're definitely going the right way with brand names and not Spotlight. :-)
Where are you getting your foam from for the shoulders/waist?
I've thought of making one of these (mine is starting to fall apart now after SIX years), but I'll get by with my mei tais I think.

were they weight/strength rated?
though at $8 a pop it will probably be worth ordering from overseas even with just getting a few!

i was thinking of getting shoulder padding from spotlight, maybe a couple of layers of quilting batting or i saw one tutorial used a piece of fleece folded up.
for the waist i might just chop up a camping roll, i'm yet to hunt our old ones out to compare them with the ergo

emma generally only sleeps 15 - 20 minutes a time in her cot in the daytime so i'm using the ergo for a lot of sleeps. i still haven't figured out how to get her on my back comfortable with the wrap either so i hate it when the ergo has to be washed.
