I see on the their website it says to check dye to ensure compatibility, so would you be able to dye it with food colouring?

Yes you can, I've dyed it no problems with Wilton gel colourings, and I'm sure others have used other food colourings. :)

I've done it with liquid food colouring (gel is better!!) and it doesn't work so well if you paint the dye on, but immersing it does work. It doesn't get quite as solid as you would get from non-MW wool though. I haven't tried that yarn with gels, but have had better results with gels than liquid with other yarns, so I guess the same would apply :)

It's fun!!

These are some that our playgroup did, all with food colouring (cos people didn't like the idea of acid dyes), the finer yarns are skeinz MW (sorry the pic is huge!!)

and this is a gradient I did at the same time for me using the MW -

(you can kinda see how the colours aren't *quite* solid..)

I've got more, but not using the skeinz stuff :)

I dyed these three yarns using Wilton food colours ('scuse the buttons etc. that is the only photo I have of this swap yarn).

And these felted slippers:

I love that colour, hence why the top I'm wearing right now is that colour (bought, not made though), plus the slippers are mine, but the Garden City Scarf (designed by our clever Shortly) was a pressie for my sister - she loves the colour too.

Do you mind me asking what dyes you use Hannah? I've got a couple of the Vintage purls ones but I want to get a bigger variety of colours & I have no idea where to get them from.
