I'm looking at doing the 6-12 month size. Can I do the legs on circs or do they need to be DPNs? If circs, what length? Thanks :D

30cm long circular or you could magic loop on an 80cm long circular, make sure it's a flexible cable one like a Knitpro.

I've always done them on circulars, circulars are just the modeeern version of dpn's anyway (eg: used for the same things), I used 30cm addi circulars

Excellent. I find DPNs too fiddly and my tension goes all weird - circs I can handle!
