This is my effort. I used pretty, pretty wool which was hand dyed by the talented Justene 8-) and is my first real project (with lots of help from Justene). I'm always amazed about how you can use yarn and two sticks to create such neat things! And whats more, it actually fits!

I did this a semi in between size... I did 17 stitches for the earflaps (so the 0-3months size) and then just used the nb size stitch count for the rest to get it the right size for my babies potential head size :)

Please excuse the gross looking red bit at the back, my cast on for that bit was too loose

Bazar for the main body of the hat, and just a bit of left over spotlight basics wool (the hat is to match the tester pattern I have just done for Kb)

Finally!!!
Here is my effort...(it's almost finished, just have to sew in all the 'tails')
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and like the crochet edge (thanks Happi  for showing my how it's done) But the ties didn't really come out quite long enough to my liking. They are only just long enough to tie. I did the toddler one, and it is pretty snug fitting on my 17 mth old. (used 4mm needles) If I want to do a bigger one, should I just do the child one, or should I use bigger needles and do the toddler size again? (I'm pretty new to the knitting thing so really have no idea.) I'm wanting to do one for my 3yo.
Pics were pretty hard, dd won't keep still!

Here is my first go, knitted with Jet, and a crochet edge. Knitted on DPN's in the round. Fits my 20mth old really well.

Am also knitting one for DD who has just turned 3, I did the toddler size but it is really too small, so will undo and reknit child size.

Mine is done in Patons Jet Red/Purple, this is a 10ply yarn but I didn't change needles or stitches.
