Here's a question......the two hats I have made, the top has been kinda pointy (which I'm not too fond of) What am I doing wrong? Am I pulling it too tight when I sew it up?

The top is a bit pointy. You can make it less pointy by doing your last row earlier (ie more stitches to pull up through) , also I havent tried but if you decrease quicker at the end (ie on purl rows too) it will probably be more rounded

 Oh ok :) Thanks, might try that next time. If I decrease quicker, does that mean I should add a cm or so in the main part of the hat to compensate for it being 'shorter' at the top? Am I making sense?

Yay got to do some knitting this weekend, and take some pics of the hats I've done.

Friday night I did the 2nd size baby one. I forgot to take a picture before I posted it, but it's in watermelon utiku wool and I did a frill edging instead of just straight (like the frills you do on the bottom of longies). It looked great and will be really cute on the 6 month old wee girl I sent it to.

Last night I did this one in boysenberry utiku. I've been meaning to do it for ages. The wool matches the colours in Em's school uniform :)

I've almost finished this one I started for myself at the beginning of winter. It's hand dyed chunky wool, that I knitted on bigger needles :)

And this one I knitted for Amber at the beginning of winter. It's utiku bazaar wool

Carolyn....hats look great....love the way that Bazaar has pooled in teh centre of the hat. :)

never thought to make my older kids hats...I just keep doing small sizes :D

maybe should try the small child size and see how it turns out. :)

Thanks. I did the child size one for Em and knitted it on 4.5mm needles. If anything it's a little big on her. She is aged 5.5yrs. I'm a loose knitter though but hopefully it will last next winter as well :)

I'm just finishing off the pink one for me and will post a pic when it's done. Size 6 needles and chunky wool, and knitted to the child size and added a little extra length ;)
