Slippers with sheepskin soles?

Slippers with sheepskin soles?

Postby Sharonnz » Thu Mar 02, 2006 9:28 pm

I LOVE those knitted slippers onto sheepskin soles on the kids. They must be pretty easy to make but I have no idea where to get a pattern OR the soles from?

Help! Thanks, Sharon

sheepskin booties

Sharon, I had a pattern somewhere. It is pretty easy you need a punch to make the holes in the sheepskin soles and then you crochet the top piece on. If no-one else comes up with a pattern I can search mine out - may take a while tho it will be at the back of my wool cupboard!!! Helen

I knew you'd probably know, lol. Take your time...it will be fairly low down on the project list but would love to do some this winter. Thanks, Sharon

sheepskin booties

Postby Callum's godmother » Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:00 pm

Sharon, after seeing the dirty house programme last night, with the guy that hoarded vacuum cleaners etc, my husband is now threatening to get those people in to clear out all my wool and other craft stuff!!! Yikes!!! I have to admit that was after I asked him how long a yard was and he guessed I was looking at buying something else - bamboo fleece!!!

You name it I'll have it some where! Just may take me a while to find it! Helen

I saw some adult-sized soles in the local wool shop - already prepunched.
No idea of cost, sorry and no idea for patterns.

booties

Postby Callum's godmother » Mon May 08, 2006 8:54 pm

Sharon, I was just reminded of this thread when browsing shops in Tauranga today and seeing a pair of possum crocheted top, sheepskin bottom slippers - did you ever get a pattern or should I continue searching?

Wow, those possum booties were cute and were retailing at $19. Thought I could do those - when I finish all my swaps!!!!

Ohhh my mum gave me a pattern for sheepskin soled booties when I was up there, and posted me an old sheepskin boot last week to use for the soles!

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on this pattern Sharon - the lady who knitted them for Sasha still hasn't sent me the pattern.

I hope you find something soon though!

Photos here http://www.thenappynetwork.org.nz/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=80038#80038 to match this pattern. Its a very easy pattern - only took a few hours to knit and put them together.

I did the Small size, using 2 strands of 8ply (not 12ply + 7ply as the pattern says) and did them on 6.5mm needles. Ella's feet are 13cm long. Theres a bit of space left at the toes, but I'd do the next size up for any feet longer than 14cm.
