Both are the same shade, the machine wash is soft and hardwearing. I haven't knit with the alpaca/ merino, it's lovely and soft, the alpaca component can be a bit prickly. It's a lovely yarn though, it depends on what you want it for. The MW is definitely a good multipurpose yarn being soft as well as hardwearing.

ETA - Poos, just went to order some and realised it is out of stock. Back to the drawing board. :gaah:
That's my fault sorry. I bought them out of it nearly two months ago. No idea why it is still on their website. It's a nice soft yarn, but it's not perfect. There are some really odd knots in there from time to time. e.g. the ply is split and then knotted between, so the only way to sort it is to break the yarn. But it's pretty good dying it up.
