How do you use a stitch marker?

How do you use a stitch marker?

Postby milipidi » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:24 am

This is a real newbie question and normally I would ask mum but she has gone away :( So probably looking really silly ....

To use a stitch marker do I attach it to the needle (I currently have it attached to the knitting)? The next row in the pattern says to 'slip marker'. This was my give away that maybe it was meant to be attached to the needle. If this is the case, then this mean to transfer the marker to the other needle?

If it helps here is the pattern, refer to the top of page 2. http://www.dunmani.co.uk/newflower/files/FlowerpotTotsDKShortiesAndLongies.pdf

You slide it onto the needle rather than attaching it to the knitting. You can get some that have a necklace clip to attach to the knitting, but they are for marking a particular row rather than being normal stitch markers.

 Hi Khai, I am Napier too. I am trying to build up the courage to try knitting in the round after I finish this pattern. I get the feeling any and all help on that venture will be needed and much appreciated. 8-[
