Button sets - different sizes

Post by sumella » Mon Jun 25, 2012 9:48 pm

I hope this is not a dumb question  , but I noticed that many of the button sets on Etsy (Tessa Ann and similar) contain buttons in different sizes, eg x2 1 inch buttons and x3 3/4 inch buttons. Wouldn't you use same sized buttons for a cardi or similar? Or are the bigger ones meant to be for decorative use only and not as a functioning button?

it could be for jackets and cuffs? the smaller ones down the front, and the 2 bigger ones on the cuff of the sleeve for decoration?

Some patterns have a feature button (larger) at the top.

I'm with you Sumella. I prefer the same size buttons.

I think, and I could be wrong, that Tessa Ann at least started making buttons for scrapbooking etc rather than garment use? I believe she will make sets all the same size if you ask her, I've used the sets with different sizes on knits, good for patterns like Tama where there's just one functioning buttons and some for pretty
On facebook recently tessa ann was asking for feedback and i think that's something a lot of people said, that they want sets all the same size for garments so it might change, with her anyway :)

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I will ask Tessa Ann if she could make them all the same size, but I suspect it won't be possible for those fancy ones with lots of details... But it won't hurt to ask...
