Anyone used clear snaps yet?

Post by Tentacles » Sat Jan 26, 2008 9:20 pm

I just finished a nappy tonight and put clear snaps onthe wings and white snaps on the tummy. I'm really not impressed by the clear snaps though, they look good but don't snap firmly into the white at all in fact they hardly hold. Of the 4 snaps I put on I would only trust one of them :?
Anyone else found this? Are they better used in conjunction with clear studs? I've never had this trouble mixing diff coloured snaps before.

Oh and I've tried repressing them but that didn't help, in fact if anything I think they are 'softer' to press than standard coloured snaps.

yes I have used them.

no its no better with the clear sockets / studs.

I have also candy snapped them - both ways. the clear are simply not up to the same standard as the coloured.

also the point is pretty danged thick - you really have to make a hole in the fabric for the whole thing.

FTR the star snaps are as *good*

I like the star ones

I probably wont get clear again.

Oh Pooh :tantrum:  and I had so many plans for my clear snaps
:bawl:

Have you actually tried a nappy with them on Paulette? I made a small so can't even try it on my boy, and it was for a friend so don't want to give it to her if it's not going to be any good :(

So are the star ones as good as the normal coloured ones???

yes I have used them on nappies that are in the stash.

They DO work - but they don't seem to be as *tight* if you know what I mean. I don't think they would do for *squishing the nappy on.... stretching .....snap there stay ya so and so* I think that would unsnap easier than the colours if put under stress.

the stars

the shank is similar to the clears. mighty thick and seems as soft - more so than the normal ones, . the socket and stud seem as good as normal.

also I think I will get some more stars - but white only. I have found that I like them to stand out against the nappy - not blend in with or tone in with it. so I do white suede and match that.

I bought my stars for clothes rather than nappies as I am thinking we should be over nappies here soon ;)

Thanks Paulette. Two of these snaps, both on one wing, feel like they'll come undone if you just flick them :( Because I was making for someone else who is paying materials etc I'm not sure whether to leave the clear snaps and explain or just take them off and put normal ones on :?
