Snaps getting stuck in the die

Snaps getting stuck in the die

Postby Chooky » Fri Dec 12, 2008 8:31 am

I'm having a problem with stud snaps - they keep getting stuck in the die! So when i try to put a snap on the nappy the stud stays in the snap press, the fabric has a hole in it and the cap (spiky bit on the cap) has been squashed flat so I can't use it again. I'm wasting a lot of snaps and can't get nappies made :x

Has anyone come across this before - is it likely to be a problem with the die? My snap press is just a couple of months old, and was working fine last time i used it (a few weeks ago)

Are you snapping something different? The times that has happened to me it's been when I've snapped thicker fabrics and the pointy bit on the cap hasn't gone through properly - fixed by poking it through first. Don't know if that helps?

Just 2 layers of flannel, I've tried snapping through the hole and the stud still doesn't come off.
The stud is really really stuck in there, I have to prise it out with a knife :?

Have you tried oiling the die?

I would try borrowing someone elses die to see. If it is only studs then to me it sounds like the die.
