Snap Pliers?

Post by caturn » Sat May 09, 2009 4:50 pm

Do you know if snap pliers are available in NZ?

I totally missed the recent coop and would love to get some.

Don't think they are in NZ yet but I don't think we got any greater discount through the coop than you can order then individually - you just need to join the ladies yahoo group

This is where the co-op bought them from.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/notionsupply/

co-op did not save a huge amount. Think you could still order 1 pair and pay under $40 NZD including postage

I got some and am loving them :D

Size 20 are the most common and largest with the best range of colours. GB's also have size 16 and 14

I think the snap pliers had a set that did just size 20 and another that did all of them

I'm keen to get some too. Maybe if there are a few more that are interested we could do another group order.

I have never heard of them. What are they exactly? Do you use them instead of a press?

I went ahead and ordered some on the 02/06 and they arrived on 16/06 they cost $20USD and that worked out at $31.87. I ordered the size 20 snap pliers only, but received the pliers and a sample of snaps so was extra good value.

They are easy to use. You don't have to change the dies for the sockets and studs like a snap press.

They don't appear do as good a job as the snap presses but for the price I think the result is adequate, the snaps all work. With the snap press the middle cap storks after being pressed are all quite uniform and in the middle, with the snap pliers they are sometimes off to one side a bit and sometimes different shapes, but if you aren't inspecting them closely you don't really notice.

I am very happy with them and have used them on bags, nappies, bibs, and handtowels so far, and on the list to do are the duvets to keep them the covers in the corners and I also considered the sheets to keep the duvets on the bed!

Just bumping this up because I am looking at getting some as well. How does Paypal work? Do I need an account or can I just use credit card? I have never brought anything overseas before and it looks a bit confusing

I haven't ordered one but would like to tag on if you are. I have used a credit card through paypal but haven't ordered through this group.

you just need to email the lade with your order (that's what i did anyway), she'll give send you details.

if you buy plier for size 20 you can buy an extra bits that let u do size 16 and 14 as well.
it doesn't get that much cheaper to send them here, but if you do a group order and have them sent to oz you could save quite a bit. that only works if u know someone coming over to nz from oz. it worked out almost $10 cheaper (from memory it cost about $22-23) also if you do a group order, she's very generous with 'extras' ie. snaps
