Snap presses

Post by lilmonster » Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:36 pm

Heya :D

Ive been looking at snap presses and have found these that look good - http://www.nappiescovered.com.au/produc ... NG%21.html ...... http://www.kamsnaps.com/Pliers-for-Plastic-Snaps-c5/ ...... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 3DWatching And then theres the big one from greenbeans - I know the greenbeans one would be best but im not gona be using it for all my nappies just the ones im sidesnapping and maybe the odd other nappy - Which would be good for this useage?
Any advice would be much appricated (please let me know if im not allowed to post those sites and i will remove)

Cheers

Do you have anyone near you, you could borrow one from? Especially if you don't have that many things planned that need snaps.

Ive contacted all the snap press services around my area - all are an hour+ drive away though so it's probably going to cost me around the same in gas/postage etc + snapping charges to get them snapped as to buy one & i know my sister in law is wanting me to make her some nappies up when she starts a family in the next few years so i will use it again

Pop a ISO in the trading post cause there were a few of us that got these in co ops. Someone might have one they are wanting to sell.
I love mine BTW :D

In Search Of :D
I think they were about $30 each when I ran a co op last year, but I am not sure if the lady is still selling them.

It looks like you can get Snap Pliers directly from Serena in China.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/notionsupply

$20USD airlifted.

I'm sure I've seen Greenbeans stock them at times. Maybe they are out of stock.

At Greenbeans we have never stocked snap pliers and decided not to stock the snap pliers as they are not as easy to use or apply snaps as well as a DK-93.

We don't consider them as a viable solution to a DK-93 and can see them only being a solution where someone is only wanting to apply a couple (less than 10) snaps per month. By selling them, we feel people will feel they are a suitable alternative and that we would be flooded with a ton of emails from dissatisfied customers & customers wanting help with why the snaps are not applying right to their garments. A DK-93 pres with die isn't that much more to buy, it just costs noticeable amount more to buy due to postage.

A pair of snap pliers in the hands of someone well trained up and skilled in applying snaps is fine from what I have found. When snap pliers are in the hands of someone who is new to applying snaps, they end up bald with frustration from what I have found.

Again we (I) have no issues with them and they have their, while limited, place. However pliers are not that much cheaper than a DK-93, and overall 99% of people would be best to invest into a DK-93 press over pliers rather than to try to save $20 odd dollars and go with pliers.

We have not ruled out stocking them, there is just a lot of costs in aftermarket service to consider if we decide to stock them.

I have a press and the pliers and to be honest I use my pliers way more than my press. My pliers I got first and never had used any type of snapping device and I have had no problems at all as a newbie using them. I usually do my nappies all in one go and have done 10 in one day with my pliers  I have owned my pliers for about 1 and a half years now I think and they are still going like they are new.

In case you haven't sorted this out yet, I'm selling a snap press second hand at a reduced price on the Trading Post:
