I started collecting them a while ago, so now have 3 or 4 different colours/patterns. Secondhand stores usually have them - but some secondhand stores charge quite a bit. I like to 'shop around' and have my favourite stores that are still reasonable.

I'm planning on making patchwork-type cushions with them. I've seen some really groovy kids winter coats made out of them, doll's blankets, cushions, bags, etc. No photos here yet - I have rather a long project list here

I saw a lady the other day wearing a cute short sleeved hoodie made out of a pink and cream square'd blanket! I was most surprised!

I think??? Savemart Upper Hutt has them at a reasonable price, not 100% sure as I looked ages ago. I have a nice dusky pink one here but I use it for bedding and can't bring myself to cutting it up. :twitch:

I use them in the car. We have one on the back seat of the Xtrail, and one in the boot. Good for picnic rugs.
I used to see them at the salvos in Oz for about $15-20 and thats bloody cheap when you think about what you can do with them.
Nothing like a good woollen blanket! Better then all those acrylic ones available now.

In a fire you could wrap a woolly one around you and get out. Better then acrylic - imagine the burns!

They're great to put underneath the fitted sheet. They do the same job as a mattress protector ;)

I know thats not what you mean hahaha.

I saw a really cool blog somewhere and the lady had made hot water bottle covers and slippers (mocassins) with her wool blanket. It kept the hot water bottle warm all night and looked super cool with applique and buttons on it :)

same 8-) But I can't cut up the fabulous red retro wool blanket with fringe I have on Lucas' bed, from my oma. So I am on the look out for some cool blankets to make some floor cushions with and also to make Arlo's quilt. I'm going to use it to back it.

I've bought from second hand shops all round welly. Some were more $ but all reasonable given the cost of wool fabric new
I've also bought of trademe when i wanted something specific (namely pink for lucys bed)

I've used some in place of batting in a high chair cover, just cause that is what i had.
I've also felted a couple of plain bits to use as cot/bassinet protectors

these are also in my homemade thread so you may have seen them before
I've made lots of the hottie covers as they work well any all the family seem to like them

I LOVE the double sided interfacing that you can get for doing applique, it makes it really easy as you can trace the shapes onto the paper first
