Hello all, now that we have a few kits up and running, we'd also like to establish a bank of nappy making fabrics that will be used for free nappy making classes (that can be run by willing TNNers in their areas). So if you have nappy cut sized, or insert/booster sized pieces of nappy fabric that are excess to requirements, feel free to pass them on.
Also if you would like to run sewing classes for low income families please let us know.

ETA: also after nappy notions: elastic, FOE, thread, velcro, snaps (part used is fine, just enough to make a nappy)

Shae...I've been outta the loop lately, but I'm back! I'm sure I'll have some fabric and/or notion I could send. Do you have a need for more nappies....I'm thinking of some second hand bits and pieces I have here from Ryan. Let me know.
Gotta run, kids need me.

Lisa, prob best to send to me, as poor chantelle must be drowning in nappies, so I'm doing the fabric side of things. I'll PM you my address.

Bex, if you PM me your friends details (inc a guess at what size kit they'll need) and either her or your email address, I'll email the loan agreement.

I have some nappies I might be able to donate, however I have a few questions:
How and where are these kits advertised?
How are the families chosen to use them?
Are recipients shown how to use them?

Hi Jannene - the orginal post answers some of your questions
Te Awhina Nappy Scheme, will be run on a referral basis: from Active TNN members. This will allow for a level of accountability for the hirer if they know a TNN member in real life and hopefully reduce any abuse of the scheme that may occur.
The kits come with an instruction manual, but hopefully the refering member will also take on the role of giving a demo.
The kits aren't advertised as such, other than on the 'kits' section of the main TNN site.
The process is basically - Chantelle or I are approached by members who would like to refer a recipient. We then discuss with the member the particular needs of the family and negotiate a time frame for the loan.
We have heaps of nappies and are always happy to help families out.
