demo kits :) - helpers, nappy makers

Post by Laura » Sat Aug 21, 2010 9:56 pm

Hey
im calling for anyone interested in helping out with these kits.
If you have some samples and need more or would like to set up a kit, please email me at lauraandsam@gmail.com.
The aim is to get at least one sample and brochures from every nappy seller and WAHM in NZ who wishes to participate.
im new to this so im just looking for some hands up to help make this work.

Let me know:
a) your area
b) if you want to help with the kits
c) if you want to donate product to them (company name and product to donate)
d)if you want to make unbranded nappies to make up kits
e) if you have any advice :D

:2cents: In my opinion TNN should have unbranded demo kits. Examples of the basic types of nappies, and a list of retailers and perhaps their flyers.

I've seen the logistics of the demo kits with branded nappies and it is really difficult to keep them up-to-date. They get really huge and have a whole heap of stuff that is no longer available. Plus I have issues with the fact that TNN is seen to endorse certain brands over others as they are in the kit.

It's also quite a big outlay for retailers to donate nappies to all the kits that might be needed around the country. Perhaps a better way for us to have a relationship with retailers is to ask them to donate flyers and some money to fund the setting up of the kits. That way all the material can be printed off and sent without too much of a cost to volunteers and TNN. Retailers can then be contacted as their flyers run low and they can choose to send more.

The other thing that people often ask is the prices of nappies, would be really handy if retailers could provide price lists, even if it was one per kit with "prices current as at ..... and subject to change" written on them. That way people get an idea of what they are looking at in terms of price when they look at styles.

A fabric sample card would be good too.

I'd be happy to sew or help in any way too :D

i think i will try and get all the kits to me (not sure about cost?) then get them back to their home or sell to fund the unbranded kits.

Most of the basic cloth nappy info is on the TNN flyer - not sure if I have one lying around the house to see if it is up to date or not. Pretty sure it is as it was redone recently.

Is it cheaper to have them printed in bulk and then posted out, or for people to have them printed locally?

Do we need a demo kit holder manual printed for each kit? ie an overview of cloth nappy types, trouble shooting page, retailer lists, prices etc

How many would we need?

:hide: sorry if I'm starting to get a bit carried away and bossy

ive emailed the parentscentre chief lady to see if we could just get one in all of the pc's nationwide (thats 52)
yes i think a info book needs to go with all the kits
if they get made up to fit in a filing box maybe we should do it all at one place

I have the Wellington demo kit and there are quite a few nappies in there that you can't get anymore - and few up to date styles of nappies, like AIO or AI2s. I think a generic nappy of each type of nappy (non branded) would be very helpful and then maybe brochures so that people can see what and where to get the branded ones from.

A demo kit 'manual' for each kit would be good, but I'm not sure about adding retailers and prices. Surely they can change quite regularly too?

I think you're up in wellington at the same time that we're away laura, but I could leave it wiith someone for you?

It's all in quite a big box, but is really out of date. I have loads of brochures as well, but many of those are out of date as well. In the time I've had it (over a year now) I've done one demo. I'd love to be able to have an up to date one to offer to bring Parent Centre classes and really get the word out there.

Well, you're up in Wellington the same days that we're away, so I'm sure I could drop it off the day before you arrive (and we leave) and that would be fine.
