Looking For A Pattern Style

Post by MerlinFluff » Fri Aug 26, 2011 10:07 am

I'm wanting to make my first nappy :hide: but have no idea which patterns would suit.. so I come asking your opinions :D

I only have a sewing machine, no serger. Have Kam snap press and snaps on their way (from Hong Kong  )

I have a heavy wetter so need a nappy with a wide crotch area for stuff-ability. A fairly high rise works better as once stuffed some nappies end up with builders crack :smt044

Want to try some SIOs so if this was an option too I'd be happy. But pockets are good. Do any of the patterns also include fitteds and covers??

Sized or OSFM.

Need to have VERY clear instructions :smt005 :smt005 :hide:

Which pattern??

Leanne's wee weka ka pai pattern has a wide crotch I think? I found the free wee weka pattern on here a good start, even if it doesn't fit your wee one it would be good to practice on :D

Grab some of the free patterns, and play around with them - what works on one child won't on another so I found fiddling around with the shape and size you need gets the best results. I don't know if there are many cover patterns around free but the Chloes Toes one works ok - or you design your fitted and then design your cover from the same pattern but leave a good 2cm extra all around (maybe even more)

There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness' :penguin:
