RNW 2007 is 11th - 18th March

Time to start some forward planning!

If anyone already knows what they are doing, can they please email me so I can update the website.

Are we calling it that this year? Wasn't there talk of calling it "Reusable Nappy Week"?

No idea, all I know is the date, and that since we have plenty of advanced warning this year we should make the most of it.

We should get Stacey to remove the 2006 forum and put up a 2007 one, the more forward planning the better the event will be

:smt040 I think the Auckland Market Day should be that week. We could have stalls from lots of WAHMs.

I will be happy to help organise (not studying and all next year(like I should be right now))

Great idea Lou... I organised a hap-hazard and not terribly successful thing last year :roll:

I had a vision... but we ran out of time to organise anything with short notice :oops:

my vision was... to hire the large room at the Grey Lynn Community Centre (nice & central) that opens out onto the kids playground (fenced)... and have a table with sewing and tips on how to sew your own nappies and have tables from WAHMs wanting to be there and WAHMs that aren't able to be there could get someone from TNN to represent them and send smaples/brochures, etc. And have a playpen area with toys for the real littlies and chairs in a corner for coffee and chatting... much like a mini expo specifically for nappies.

I think one of the problems in the past is that we approach it like a public nappiccino... whereas I would like to see TNN hosting something that wasn't for TNN members but for the public to learn. IYKWIM

I think the expo idea is a great one - maybe since we have more time to organise we can get some 'nationwide' posters, handouts etc sorted too - that way smaller areas who have fewer members will still be able to hold an event of a similar nature - because they have access to download and print off everything they need.

That room at the Grey Lynn centre is great - I am going to be teaching a class there soon.

I think the expo idea is a good one, but I wonder if it would be best to have several events for Auckland for RNW rather than one expo? Its just that, having lived all my life on the other side of the bridge I would never go to Grey Lynn for anything - I don't even know where it is exactly! :oops:

I wonder if we would get more people coming if we go to their local area? ie I'd be happy to be involved in a North Shore/Rodney event (maybe hire the Albany hall?) If you can organise WAHM samples for a Grey Lynn expo maybe this could move elsewhere the following weekend to access as many people as possible?

Oh crap.....that is sooner than I thought :roll:

!! I have GRAND plans for WCC but I need to go and beg/plead/play very nicely with a few people to make it work!!! The Council is likely to run a few events Shar (which I will be talking to CC about) so I shall keep you posted.............

If you look at some of the stuff that we did this year, I think it could be easily changed for RNW 2007. Lemonnz has all the stuff on file and would be able to send it to you.

The Expo we had down here was huuugely successful, we plan on doing it again, just in a bigger venue.

I was also thinking we could have a sewing class/day at one of the local high schools (hoping to use their sewing room) :wink:

Janine, i didn't think it was too bad last year - considering the amount of time we had to organise....but yes, we will be more prepared this time yeah, Akl ladies? Shall we follow suit from our Chch members - ie have regular planning meetings? Who else from Auckland is keen? When the 2007 section is set up, let's start a thread for Akl... how regular can we make these meetings? Once a month to start with then closer to the time fortnightly/weekly? Also Janine, we talked about booking the GL room all day didn't we? That way more newbies can make it to view and chat...and media, we need to get the word out!
