Baby singlet testers needed - 4ply

Post by KiwiWonder » Sun Mar 28, 2010 12:36 pm

I'll need testers for my current pattern I'm working on - a baby singlet, a la under-clothes during winter but cute enough to be worn as a tee if desired during summer months.

It's done primarily in the round, with optional sleeves, entirely in ribbing. The ribbing allows the singlet to grow with baby so you won't need to knit quite as many to keep up with growth spurts ;)

Currently looking for 2 - 3 testers in both sizes. In a perfect world, I'd like each finished singlet to be tried on a variety of sizes just so I have an idea exactly how long each size will last, iykwim? That's not a strict requirement for testing tho - I will need at least one child handy in that size range! (Doesn't need to be yours, but I would greatly appreciate photos, particularly if I can use them for the pattern)

The newborn+ size uses just under 50g of wool - I haven't done full testing yet on larger sizes but I expect they'll be more than 50g and less than 100g. Suits either solid colours, variegated, or even stripes (though I haven't written colourwork in, but feel free to improvise it)

Sizes are approximately -

small - newborn through 6 - 8 months?

medium - 6 months through 12 months

large - 12 months to 2 years

x-large - 2 - 3 years

Would ideally like a turn around test time of about 2 weeks from receiving the test pattern. PM me if interested :)

I'm a bit overcommitted now to be able to make one that fast sorry Margo.
Can you please tell me what the dolly is that you have modelling though? It's very cute and I'd like one for DD

Erica, it's a reborn doll specially made as a gift from baby (when I was pregnant with katerina) by sphanges ;) It just happens to be prem sized so I use it as a sizing guide for large prems / small newborns

I've had an amazing response to this, and have most of my testers sorted now - you should have received a PM from me :) There were some who didn't get in quick enough (as I only need about 3 per size) so apologies for that

However - I do still need 2 more people to do a medium size - happy to accept babies from 3 months to 12 months for it :D

Margo, did you get my PM? I said I'm happy to do any size needed, so I can do a medium if you still need someone? :D

I could see if mum wants to give it a go (nb size) - if she does she would be able to try it on at least a nb & a 2 month old, probably a 5 month old or 2 as well :)
