MIl is 17cm in on the large, can't wait till it's finished, and I can dye it! (done with undyed BFL) It's looking like it'll be big enough to do A two winters, so here's hoping!

Wow, cool! And gorgeous girl :D :D :D Thanks for the sizing input too, depending on what the others say I may well 'upsize' the newborn.... tho on the flip side I'm worried my XL is too big  but I'm not finished knitting my one yet for Z

I spose the wool I used might be relevant - coz doesn't 4 ply vary quite a lot in its thickness? It was Cleckheaton Merino bambino 4 ply. Which if I compare next to another 4 ply I have is quite a lot 'finer'.

I'm getting there with teh XL Margo, sorry was hoping to have it done by this weekend but having A's party to organise has meant less knitting time. I've just got to do one side of the front from the neck and the back from the armholes so not too much longer.

I'm just about to split for the armholes/front and back. Hoping to finish by tomorrow - the XL sure is slow going!! Admittedly I've had little knitting time over the last 2 weeks, being school hols and all (and my smallest doesn't let me knit when she's up and she hasn't had any day sleeps the last 2 weeks  ).

Should have mine finished this week Margo, things have been a bit mental here for the last week (boys don't want to sleep or let me knit)
Just looking at the length though would you mind if I add an extra couple of centimetres and take that into account when I try it on babies? (just so it will hopefully last my long boy through winter)

Ours is finished, just got it today, sleeves are really strange, think it might have been sewn up wrong! Will take pics, and try it on tonight. Took 65g of BFL for the large, and looks like it'll fit A really well.

ETA: yep fits brilliantly on my 12mth size fitting 10mth old, with plenty of room to last at least all through winter :D I've got pics when I can get them loaded, on and off, and will hopefully dye it tonight 8-)

Margo, I am just about finished and will be seaming the envelope neck shortly. Is it possible for you to show a picture of how/where you want the overlapped part to be as I'm struggling to understand from just the instructions in the pattern and none of the finished photos I've seen so far have shown a close up of this. (sorry I'm being a bit dense).

Can someone who's knitted the singlet please put up a pic of the envelope neck seams please? I guess Margo isn't checking in here too regularly and I really need to get this done.

Thanks :D

I can't post a pic at the mo as DD is asleep but I took the directions to mean that you join only the straight cast-off edge of the front parts of the singlet to the back portion. So the angled parts are free.

Thanks for the reply Keiransmum, but now I'm more confused. Isn't it meant to be a Plunket/envelope neck? So there should be an overlap? What happens to the decrease edge - the instructions say to "seam along the outside edge of the shoulder (i.e. where the sleeves go)". I'm really confused.
