Nappy testers needed (updated please read).

Post by lily1 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:04 pm

I have been working on my pattern for months and months, and have spent the last three days trying to get it right, and down sizing it into smaller sizes.

It is a trim fitting, hip snap nappy which I have made into a pocket for testing, but will eventually become an AI2, and I have one in each size (small, medium and large) that I would like testers for. It is a very trim fitting nappy, and as I don't currently have any inserts made up for them so it may suit people who already have narrow inserts (i.e swaddlebees, BB ect).

Each nappy is made from lavender spotty minky, with hidden waterproof layer, and suedecloth stay dry layer, except for the small which has MF stay dry layer.

I have adjusted and adjusted this pattern, and it still may need a few more adjustments especially with snap placement, which is what I need testers for. The sewing is not exactly perfect (my sewing machine and I were at war today  ), but please don't take that into account, what I really need to know is size range and fit.

I did get the small onto Lily (12 Kg,short and round on the lasts naps, there are two rows of snaps with four snaps in each row). In the medium she was on the second to last snaps, and on the large the second tightest snaps on one side and second to last on the other. I'm thinking I may have shotened the tabs a little more than I wanted to.

Anyway, as I stated before, I have one nappy in each size that I would like to be tested. First in may not be first served, as I would prefer each nappy to go to the person who can test the nappy on a variety of differnet sized children forthat specific size if that makes sence? If you wanted, you could try it, then send it on? It will be up to the tester to decide what they want to do.

There may be more coming soon, just need to get some more fabric :D

At a guess for sizing

Small- 5KG-8KG
Medium 7KG-11KG
Large 9/10KG+ ( but would like to make tabs a wee bit longer).

Thanks.

I can test a medium on my girl and also on a friends 9 month boy and another friends 5 month girl.
ETA: ooh I could also test the medium on a VERY big 3month old girl (born at 13lb!) and a real slim/short 2.8yr old girl.

Can also test large on a 2.2yr old boy & 2.6yr old girl/boy twins (both only in night nappies though).

Happy to help if any use to you

DD is 7kg so could test small/medium on her -she's long and not skinny, so it'd be likely she may only fit the medium (or possibly even a large). DS is 15kg but you possibly don't want/need testers in that large of a range!

Happy to help however I can.

Cadi (3m) is just over 6kg and has a solid build, Jackson (23m) is 10kg and slim build. Cadi fits some smalls but is mostly in mediums (lovely chubby thighs :smt050 ), and Jackson is in mediums but fits some larges.
If you want to really test the limits of your large, Xavier (3y 5m) is 16kg and solid build with skinny waist :D

ETA: Can also test fit on Josiah (4y 11m), 15kg and slim build... he's only in night nappies, but puts up with Mummy trying stuff on him :smt044

DS is 2, 14kg and solidly built. He wears larges. I also have a couple of friends with babies/ toddlers in larges who could try it out. A rebust just turned one year old and reasonably slim toddler.
