Awesome cords Lu! Did you use a pattern? I'm wanting to make DS some pants, he seems to have heaps of shorts but only 3 pairs of 'longs' The pattern I have is more trackpant shape, but maybe if I added pockets they'd look more liek proper pants? hmm... TBH I'm probably just going to get DP to spend his hotpoints on farmers vouchers so I can buy some pants

I bought a whole lot of funny branded patterns at spotlight for $2 each a while ago and the pants and hoody are one of them. They were supposed to have a second smaller pocket on top of the one thats there but I couldn't be bothered doing it and liked how they look this way anyway. The only thing is this is a size 2 but I had to cut the legs almost in half lengthwise they were so long.

Gorgeous Claire! I've been searching for a hoody pattern like that. Where did you get that one from?

And the applique really makes it. I love the use of the two different fabrics.

LOL.. I didn't come up with either of them.. I'm not terribly creative
the tree is from a sewmamasew pillow tutorial that I had bookmarked but cant find right now and the flowers are taken from here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25178580@N00/3171676122/
whenever I see a photo on flickr that I like I 'fav' it and so I can look at my favourites later for a good shot of inspiration ! (I joined heaps of sewing flickr groups and there is so much great stuff on them)

The hoodie pattern is one I made up Lulu .. I wanted to make a 'hilda and tilda' (ottobre outfit) but it doesnt go down as small as DDs size so I used my own pattern and modified it to use their 'styling' iykwim.

Oh there is some cool cool stuff!!

I love all the ideas - getting me very inspired! :D

My problem is....
-I haven't done a lot of clothes sewing, so have not that much confidence
-I HATE tracing patterns and all the cutting out
-I don't always understand all the techniques involved
-Not knowing the techniques is holding me back!!
-I am afraid of making mistakes, cause it is hard to fix,and I don't like wasting fabric

BUT

I should just try - cause I am never going to learn if I don't make mistakes... right?....

Claire love those embellishments, too cute (might use the idea LOL)

Renate elastic waist pants are super easy 2 pattern piece 4 pairs material and some hemming and elastic. :D , start with those I can cut and make a pair in under 1 hour now . And raglan sleeve tops are very easy too.

I have made DD2 a pair of cord bootlegs and have another knit pair cut out to sew tomorrow as well as a pair pj pants for each girl. I've got merino singlets to make and long sleeve tees for pjs, and some out of merino if I have enough.

Also have some merino to make me a couple of tops and some coat wool I want to make a coat this year (got the coat wool last year :hide: )
As well as knit each girl a cardgan/jersey.
