Renate, I have some thicker cord here for a pair for DS. They are super easy to make, even with the pocket. I think pants have to be one of the easiest things to sew.

Yep - my cord is wider, and in a really nice deep green colour! I was given the fabric, so super stoked.
What pattern did you use?

I have done pants before - some leggings for DD (no side leg seams); trackies for DS (also no side leg seams); and I have done one pair of pants for DD which have side leg seams. I haven't done pockets before. (well, have on a hoody,but not on pants).
I don't suspect it will be too difficult, but just need a pattern to go with, as I am terrible at just winging it!!

Of the few clothes I have made, I get great satisfaction and a real sense of achievement!! You ladies do really inspire me!!

I used a bought pattern. They usually come with something else in the pattern like the one I got with the hoody. Pants are pants though so most patterns will probably be similar. But you could take a pattern from an existing pair. Lots of people manage to do that. The pattern I used didn't say to do a flat seam down the outside of the legs with the twin stitching but I liked the look of it so I did it. Also the pocket is really just a rectangle with the edges turned under and stitched onto the side of the pants. You don't even have to do pockets square on the pants if you don't want to. You can angle them and even do them in different fabric for something a little different. Back pockets can be done the same but just smaller and front pockets just have a curve to them so they can get their hands in - real easy.

My sewing machine is broke I was so planning a sewing session today now I'm all sad boohoo.
I was in town looking at a new machine yesterday and thought I should have dropped it off at the time but wanted to use it today.
Oh well I guess I'll cut out some l/sleeve tops for everyone instead.

I'm off to my parents for the week with sewing machines and knitting needles so hopefully I have a few things to show when I get back (if I don't hae to many late sleep ins and blobby days on the couch watching movies ).

Well I have spent most of the weekend sewing, finishing WIPs off.
Finished 8 nappies, Velour baby footed pants, 3 seam NB bootes, and finally sewed velcro on Bibs and an whats a ma call it thingy on the points of each. Also fixed DS school bag and made a taggy blanket, which is sorta winter theme as made it big enought to go in carseat over bubs. (DH thought it was a crib bumper)



Now just cutting out some PJs for DD, all her others have turned 3/4 length, and shes going to MILs tomorrow so must have some nice ones to send with her. Then it will be boys PJs for the other 2 while I am there.

Finished a sleepsack for DS today, I really wanted cotton knit for the outer but ended up using spotlight minky cos I wanted to get it done and I already had that here. It's merino lined, bought it already cut from JandC. Will take a pic later, or tomorrow lol.
Next have to finish the last long-sleeved top for DS, and then a couple of pairs of pants, tight ones like thermals, from merino for him as well so he can wear them under his pjs on really cold nights when his lseepsack is being washed, or under thinner pants on cold days.
The last one of merino I got was so lovely I decided it was too nice for DS cos he'll just spill stuff all over it and grow out of it in 6 months, so its going to be a top for me. I have a top I wear all the time thats shortsleeved, so I might see if I can use that as a base to make a long sleeved one, yay merino for me

I've finished making a 12mth milo in bendigo purple storm for Alex, with the owl cable, soooo soft! I'm planning on making him some LGL to match, in TWC gems with purple storm trim, and a hat if I have enough yarn left. Casey is helping me make a merino bodysuit or two to go under the milo.

Have a floral pair of merino lined cords cut out for DD2, a cardi and slippers on the needles (and suede to sew onto the soles), merino to make singlets/undershirts, lots of cord to make dresses...
Where does the time come from???

Boo hoo took my machine into the shop yesterday cos it completely doing wierd things with the thread and he said it may be the stitch length gears gone. My machine is like 40+ yrs old so may not be repairable.

Now I need help to decide between a Brother NS10, and Elna or a Bernette 66. Any opinions?

Oh and anyone want to buy my overlocker so I can pay for new sewing machine
