Post by grizle » Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:45 pm

I've been chatting with friends about an idea, but I don't know if we're ready to take the plunge on it for July, or leave for another month...

Any other ideas?

I spent some time sorting fabric today and have some destashing to do ('tis been growing 8-[ ), so I'm ready to go with whatever is decided...

Well I've been stashbusting today and made 10 bags. I'm happy to carry on stashbusting but also keen to hear of any ideas.

I'm planning on a selfish knit in July? So the something warm would apply - it would finally be something warm for me!

This month I have officially knitting for everyone in my family - except for me!

I'm loving embellishments atm - and matching items, not sure how that one would work as a theme though. :D

Right, 1st of July, let's make a decision!

I have a proposal, with a big dangly carrot  There have been a lot of ribbons & buttons being co-op'ed lately, let's get cracking with them!

I propose that we go with the theme "Embellish".
Main Entry: embellish
Part of Speech: verb
Definition: make beautiful; decorate
Synonyms: add bells and whistles, adorn, amplify, array, beautify, bedeck, color, deck, dress up, elaborate, emblaze, embroider, enhance, enrich, exaggerate, festoon, fix up, fudge, garnish, gild, give details, grace, gussy up, magnify, ornament, overstate, spiff up, spruce up, trim

I will pull together a random spot prize(s) - all entries will go into a random draw. The prize(s) will be a small bundle of embellishments (will have a chat to the Gingham partners-in-crime for inspiration on this).

To enter - just add photos & blurb to the thread.
Each item gets you one entry into the draw. There are no limits to the number of entries you submit.

Now, the rules....
* No restriction on the craft chosen. E.g. you may choose to sew, knit, crochet, scrapbook etc
* Base item may be handmade, store bought (e.g. you may choose to buy a t shirt and embellish it, that is all good) or upcycled.
* Embellishment ideas - paint (e.g. free hand, stencil, kid's art), buttons, ribbons, laces, beads, patches, fabric, embroidery (hand or machine), stickers (for scrapbooking). Pieces may be purchased for the project, or from stash, or upcycled, etc.
So really, no rules  I would love to see people whom don't consider themselves very crafty giving this one a crack.

Sound ok?

I wonder how many hair clips we'll see :smt044 Don't forget this is a perfect opportunity to embellish with Buttons by Benji to enter her special prize draw for completed garments.

ETA: forgot to put a close on this - how about we wind up at the end of the Month - Saturday 31st July - so that it frees us up to decide whether a similar random prize draw will work for August. So, photos posted by 8 pm Sunday qualify for a random draw later that night or Monday?
