thats what i was planning - cut the 1.5" strips then cut the lengths lay it out and sew it up.

I'm confused what lengths to do it though? So that it goes light to dark..

Cass, the lengths are all on that tutorial on the first page. Lay them out in order, then increment.

Basically colour A:
Start at 2.5" and increment by 1" until you get to 11.5"

Colour B:
Start at 3.5" and increment by 1" until you get to 12.5"

From what I understand - once you have got you 1.5" stripes, sort out which order they are going in and you cut one light and one dark for each side. Okay for mine I have 6 dark and 6 pink fabrics, so I am sorting out which fabrics I want closest to the hearth (the lightest of the darks and lights) and working out from there, cutting them into the lengths required.

But in saying that they are still siting waiting to be ironed and cut into the 1.5" strips :rotfl:

Yep - I really wanted everyone to precut the sized pieces rather than stitch and cut.
The reason for this is to do an effective self check on your 1/4" seam allowance.
If you're simply sewing and cutting, your block ends up never being checked for size. :)

Here's mine - I think it's slightly small (about 1/4'" too small) but it will do

Now the question in does it matter what colour cotton I use to sew it up? My darks are black base and my lights are creamy

Well done kiley.

How unsquare is it? Looks fine in the photo. Did you have an extra strip in there?
