Thanks for that pic, I have limited fabrics and trying to use up stash first so was wondering what it would look like to have repeating fabrics rather than all different. Looks good btw!

I'm no quilting expert but from a fabric perspective I love the fabrics you Dunedin Gals have picked, and would love to see them laid out like Nickers (or sewn up)

I still havent found my fabric, yet am getting there.

Here's my first two attempts sewn up. I bought one of the Spotlight rulers to do my second block and found it a lot simpler, but still not perfect yet.

I'm going for a pink/purple theme as Lucy to co-ordinate with a quilt that is being made by my SIL for Lucy. I hate the way my camera distorts purples. They blend a lot better than the photo shows, and the outer one isn't nearly as dark and contrasting as it looks.

2nd attempt:

Now to try and get my sewing a bit more even.

They look great Robyn. Well done!
What size do they measure? Thats the ticket to how accurate your seam allowance has been.

They're 12.5" Fi, but they are slightly skewed, so there is a small amount of variation in the width.

Ooh, I'm so going to participate in this. I have ideas for colours in my head but need a day without DS to cut it out. I love what everyone has done so far.

I thought I'd posted in here - maybe I didn't hit submit properly?

Anyway, apologies if I have posted somewhere else instead :P

I wasn't going to take part in this because I didn't want to spend any more money (LOL). I've always LOVED the idea of patchwork though. Today I found a bag of perfect fabric for $3 so I grabbed it and got sewing.

I know it's wonky, wrong and I have an extra strip on there (that I have now removed), but I love that I have done it and plan to make a decent one soon.

Awesome.
Its great to see all the different combinations, and different repeats, makes you realise how different the log cabin blocks can be.
I think I will sew mine up after all, I thought as it wasnt the 'standard' way of doing the log cabin block that maybe I would wait until I could add more different kinds of fabric.
Now I've seen how the different combinations can work, and as I've cut it out already, it might as well be sewn :D
And my 1/4" quilting foot has arrived so I'm set to go.
