Re: January Quilt Block - Log Cabin 12" (precut)
Oh dear! My masking tape attempt is inferior - finished block is 13"
I don't know what to do about a 1/4" foot. Because my machine has IDT, and being an old machine it has a weird angle so modern feet are not compatible. So, to use a 1/4" foot with the IDT requires an expensive adaptor. Not sure whether it's worth the investment as I plan to upgrade at some stage wishfully in the nearer future. I can use a simple 1/4" foot without IDT engaged, but if you've used IDT it's very hard to not use it!
*sigh*

Re: January Quilt Block - Log Cabin 12" (precut)
I had issues getting the seams correct to Leanne. I brougt a 1/4" foot but it isn't acurate I found out so hopefully they will take it back
I used some sticky pad things as a guide in the end. Did anyone else find that that when they did a 1/4" seam and then ironed the seam open the 2 pieces were smaller than they should have been? Am I doing something wrong? I ended up doing my seams a little smaller so they opened up to be 1/4".
Here is my finished block.

Kat - I think the important thing is the size of the strips once you have sewn it so measure your strips on your block to see if they are 1 inch thick.

Have cut it out
Just need to sew it up now! Bit worried my 'light' darks are not dark enough, but that'll do.

Re: January Quilt Block - Log Cabin 12" (precut)
I managed to get Febs block done last night. I was going to go a little more fancy but decided to go for the simple look
I am curious to see how everyone has set their machines up. I have used some 3M Self Stick Floor Care Pads that I got from the warehouse and they are working a treat. $4.99 for 12 of them and you dont even need a whole one. They are very stiff and don't move around at all.
I'm keen to do a block maybe every 3 weeks so we can get the whole quilt finished this year. Now I have started I'm itching to move onto the next one. I am doing 3 blocks from each colour set. First 3 represent my oldest DD and are greens, next ones will probably be blues for DD2 as she likes blue, thrid set will be pinks since thats the only colour DD3 likes
and I haven't decided about the 4th lot since DD4 doesn't really have an opinion yet
In saying that by the time we get to block 9 she might have
