March Quilt Blocks - X2!!!

Post by Fi » Mon Mar 07, 2011 9:35 am

Hey all,

Sorry we are a bit slow to get of the blocks this month (excuse the pun....)

I was thinking after last month there might be a few homes in disarray, and I am thinking of all our friends in Chch.

So - how about we do 2 blocks this month - one for your quilt, and one for a donation. I am happy to collect all the donation blocks and get them bound into a quilt that we can auction off for funds to donate, or we could donate the whole quilt to a worthy charity. There are a few options.

This month we are going to move into triangles. As long as you cut these as per the cutting instructions (aligning the arrow on the template with the grain of the fabric) you can't go wrong.

The two we will look at this month can be found here:
http://www.jinnybeyer.com/quilting-with ... blockid=61

This block is called Turnstile - remember to print the 12" block templates

And

http://www.jinnybeyer.com/quilting-with ... blockid=49

Ohio Star.

I will do the mock ups in a couple of days, but lets get in adn start chatting!

A note on printing the templates:
Make sure you use US Letter for your print settings, and double check that the specified distance is an inch on your page before using the templates. When you have cut out the templates, you need to pin them onto your fabric in a couple of places before you cut out the fabric.

You will get beautiful effects by using lights and darks in the right arrangement here, so really put some thought into your fabric selection!

Good luck :)

I've been a bit demotivated to do this over the last 2 weeks. I kinda feel like the pace has dropped off.
Is anyone still going?
SHould I push to get both blocks done?

(Needing to feel the love..... :hide: )
