cool teepee, he looks so cheeky!

Thanks Megan :vibes: I think I'll do the poles on the outside, I like that detail. And prob the same with the 6 sides!

So I am off to get poles/broom handles from Mitre 10 or suchlike and look in at Spotty as they have 30% off fabrics till today...though I might have something suitable...maybe 8-[ :smt044

I had bought 6 bamboo poles from mitre about 18mths ago :smt044 one was stolen by Lucas for scouts so I need another. But I'm thinking I'd rather use dowel for stability. I got the fattest bamboo I could at the time but its still going to be bendy unlike dowel. I'm not at all inspired by the fabrics I have here...though I got some really cheap light blue/green at Spotty the other day. Its only quilting weight and width though but would make a good neutral if i go with bright bindings, hmmmmm. Maybe I should make a mock up version with the bamboo...bet I'd never make another if I do that

If you want cheap dowels go to your local placemakers or the like and ask for trade discount with a lovely smile and the chaps usually give you one

Couldn't it easily be reversable?

Also, what about a couple of windows with velcro above to attach curtains, then swap for a shop frontage, hospital etc?

Whe i made one for my brohter years ago i used dowel (stolen from my dad's workshop).
when igot it back for Lucy the dowels were long gone so i used bamboo and they are just not that sturdy (though much cheaper). If i bother doing one again i'll definately go dowels.

mine was 6 sided, so 6 dowels. i think i'd do less sides to keep the cost down and make it easier to get it up next time.

i also had the casings for the poles enclosed at the bottem and the fabric eventually wore through so if you are wanting to do this you'd need a strong canvas type fabric over the bottems of the poles.

cool I imagined that would be the case with bamboo! I'm going to leave the casings open at the bottom and add stool caps to them and then the poles can be removed from either end of the casing if needed. I'm off to get dowel now 8-) shall see about cost and decide on the spot if it'll be 5 or 6 sided :D

So I think 25mm is overkill in dowel and expensive!! 20mm is about $10 for 1.8m ouch! Broomhandles are of course too short. Off to suss trade discount ;) yes I'm there now heehee.

He'd do them for $9 ea so not a full trade discount, so I signed up for trade discount and will wait a couple of days for that.No big hurry as I have some sewing to do anyway!! Might be a better deal elsewhere so I'll look around some more :)
