VOLUNTEER WANTED : Design work

Post by karmiec » Wed Jun 09, 2010 11:37 pm

Hiya!

I'll put on my TNN Inc Chairpersons hat for a moment:

This is something that came up at TNN Inc meetings last year - that we would really like to have a volunteer to help with poster designs for the various events (eg: design two layouts and people email you the details of the event which you input and email back to them for printing).

Also asking for someone to desgin a fun banner add to go on the forum with the RNW dates - if possible it would be great if you could do the code thingee so it could click through to the RNW section of the forum

Also potentially another button/ad for retailers to use for RNW - which we could link to an events page.

No promises that we will use your services at this stage but I'm quite keen to get the ball rolling

I can potentially do some design work (and write the code required to get links to work) only stipulation is that I'm given tons of warning and a design brief so I don't have to invent it all myself (baby brain drain issues here)
I was originally doing this kinda stuff but ended up not getting near the 'puter due to small babies, much easier now!

Uhh ohh...

Well Im doing the Marketing and advertsing (or am trying to anyway LOL)
My photoshopCS5 just crashed though and it wont let me re-install atm.. grrrrrr

Could you be so kind and make a PDF with a RNW 2010 Logo? Id say use the TNN logo but the text will have to be changed to Real Nappy Week 2010!

It will be held @ Welesly centre from aprox 9am - 4pm on the 9th of Ocotber (Saturday)

There will be nappy & sewing Demo's, hire kits, retailers (no idea whome as of yet, but ill probably be there with my store Nappy Heaven)
There is a playground there for kids and thats all the info i have at :(

Trying to get some action in the thing atm LOL

Anyhow if you could put that in the pdf and send it to my email (ill pM you) and also make a banner in GIF.. :)

Cheers darling!!!!

ps. quick moc up is cool, i just need a quick thing to set the site up, you can re-edit etc as we go from there too \:D/

Right...........
So where do I get the RNW logo from?
Sorry, but I'm really out of the loop and need to be given the full list of dates, what's required etc, I actually though RNW had been and gone in april.....

I hope I don't need to sign up to fbook, I boycott such places I'm afraid

yeah my fault.. I've had to take a break from TNN Inc work while I get the rest of my life under control :hide:

We are following : Reusable Nappy Week, which is the Australian Nappy Network date and branding

I believe they already have a RNW logo - I was in contact with Kira kira@nappynetwork.org.au
Kelley (KLS? on here) designed our TNN logo's
I could foward you Kelley's email and if you like

The austrailian focus this year is on the environmental reasons for choosing cloth, but from what I'm hearing there seems to be more of a focus on DIY and designer MCN here. I don't know if there is anyway you can incorporate that kind of a feel into whatever you do, but if that helps with ideas?? Otherwise whatever you and Sam can nut out will be awesome.

As far as im aware there is non! Or at least no real nice one :) Which gives us the opportunity to come up with something cool!

Pic/icon needs to be a square preferably for the profile though..

And the RNW is planned in October... because of the better weather etc.! :D *and because of the RNW in Australia as explained by Karmiec donw a few posts :rotfl:

If you are unable to do it then thats fine, ill just have to get my phsp fixed somehow LOL or find someone else willing to take it on...

Karmiec, do we have to use their logo?? Or is that just easy?

I haven't done any commercial design work for 3-4 years so I'm a bit rusty, and I don't have access to any stock photos or photoshop.
Any work I do will be done on inkscape or fireworks - or for print I tend to use freehand (yeah know, old school, but it's all I have at the moment)
I also don't have any access to the current website/ the code for it, or anything like that as it was all on my work machine which blew up (hard drives are ok, just don't have a machine to plug them in)

Other than that it's all good :eh: :twitch: :rotfl:

I'll need the pixel dimensions for the square you want too....

Banner should be the easy bit :rotfl: it's craeting the logo design that's going to be a challenge.
I'll need banner dimensions too
(Inkscape is a pretty good shareware? program, originally a linix port I think, don't quote me though!) I'll just publish to jpeg or gif, or png for you
What's the deadline? I'll have to work around the kids so a week or so would be good

Sam, wait a moment:

Kelley who designed the TNN baby has firm ethical standards around touching (even changing colours) of other designers work without their permission. So taking the TNN baby and changing the wording is not appropriate. Thats something you would need to approach Kelley directly for. But you can use the TNN baby logo as it is in a poster/document.

Either using the Austrailian RNW logo OR using similar imagery will help link the two groups. Not essential though. Having a logo that is exclusively about TNN gives mixed messages, there are other good MCN companies that aren't affiliated with TNN but may be interested in events and expo's around RNW...

The October dates are the Austrailian Resusable Nappy Week dates, not just for the weather, it is also the constant clashes with Anzac weekend, and unity with our Austrialian counterparts... we have lots of trans-tasman nappy trading going on (our WAHM's sending to Oz, itti bitti is ausie based and a major brand in our market, etc etc)...

ETA - just to make sure this is all meant in a nice way, I'm just tired and have a headache so I hope i don't come across as a grumpy so and so

MY bad! You are completely right, this hasnt even crossed my mind! (i somehow thought they were in on the whole RNW thing.. )
In that case yes we will need to contact Kelley or come up with something our selfs :)

Maybe because it is trans tasman we can incorporate that n the logo then ...
Anyhow, just need something to get going LOL

Cheers!

sorry I had hoped I would be able to help but I have quite a bit of work on at the moment.
I have access to free image websites so am happy to download a pic if you need one. Just let me know.
