Re: RNW - Auckland
Do you want to organise it for Sunday? that'd be great
It doesn't have to be Saturday but I won't make a sunday event so my role would be limited.
We could also do something different - maybe several smaller things leading up to the expo, eg: north shore demo nappacinos in public venues with sponsors offering prizes

Re: RNW - Auckland
Well if it's on a Sunday, I don't mind pitching in and helping too. Although I don't have all the inside information that others have.
This year, I don't have little babies to deal with, and I'm not feeling seedy in the first trimester of pregnancy either.
Could be fun doing a two day event, but do you think there would be enough interest? That way it captures people who can't make it on different days.
I won't make a Saturday event, for the same reason you won't make a Sunday event I suspect.

Re: RNW - Auckland
I dont know how many retailers are up for 2 days in a row (esp after last years shocking weather and turnout)... given proximity to P&C Show.
I think 2 events is needed though - so one not a Saturday

Re: RNW - Auckland
How about we get the vibe of what everyone wants. I'm very happy to pitch in and help for a non Saturday day.
You were at a different venue last year aye. From memory I don't think that's as good a spot as the one you had the year before where it was beside Western Springs. There is just so much activity from families around Western Springs already.
Pity you can't schedule the event to go with the weather.

Re: RNW - Auckland
I think the Western Springs venue is now a Cobb & Co restaurant... so that might not be quite ideal

Cobb & Co was there last year (there was a wedding on in there while we were there!
) - the venue we were in was kinda in the same building but tucked around the side a bit. It was really the weather that was our undoing.

I've only been once, last year, and it was at the community hall place across the road from Western Springs

Re: RNW - Auckland
I'm more likely to be the crazy one as I wasn't there either year. Was thinking last year was at Albert Park or thereabouts. But that was probably just part of the discussion and never eventuated.mermaid13 wrote:am i going crazy?, i thought we had it at the same place both years?
The one that Weegee showed, looked like the same as they had two years ago, so sounds like it was the same place both years.

Re: RNW - Auckland
I'm in to help out again.
Venue pros - central location, parking available
Venue cons - hard to find (restaurant in the way), not actually close to any of us partipating, have to faff around with getting special council hireage rates and picking up keys, room shape a bit weird
I may have a slight bias in suggesting this, but could we do something at Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre as it is in the same building as the Cloth Nappy Education Centre? Then maybe we could use their room to talk about cloth nappies generally and direct people around the corner to visit the retailers?
I can canvass the retailers from last year to get an indication of whether they would attend and which day they would prefer. Let me know if anyone doesn't want me to do this

Last 2 years were western springs
They have issued us a permnant swipe card and inc society discount which will relieve much stress

I would prefer one central event as te atatu feels too far away - either from the shore or mums place in papakura...rebeccal wrote: I may have a slight bias in suggesting this, but could we do something at Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre as it is in the same building as the Cloth Nappy Education Centre? how about rocket park? not sure how much it cost to hire the hall but it's great place. nice big playground (altho not fenced) and nice bisa hall too. plenty-ish parking around and relatively central.. well it's still auckland central
am happy to do odd jobs here and there too
