DIY Mai Tai - pics finally added :)

Postby daydream97 » Tue May 25, 2010 7:50 pm

I was going to pm Nat privately but thought this could be useful information for other people, so I hope you dont mind (pm if you want me to remove pics etc) ;)

after lusting after Nattys mai tai for the last few months I am finally ready to start making my own \:D/ i have picked my fabrics and now just need a trip to spotty to get the final padding and drill etc.

so i am goign to print off the instructions tomorrow but am i being blind ... i cant see the actually pattern ...?! :eh: where abouts is it, or do we have to draw our one?

I think i want to make a hood so i can use it throughout winter - thinking ill line that with minky ;) lol did you make one?

Also what hints and tips would you give on making your mai tai?
I hope you dont mind nat but i just quoted you from your homemade thread so i could your mai tai ;)

My DH has picked out some fabric for one for him to wear too which is encouraging :D

This one is made 2 inches taller in the body , as my girls are both so tall they are off the Plunket height chart, so I wanted something that would support their whole backs (I found the Ergo a bit low on the back)

Olivia woke up really upset tonight (pooy bum  ), and within 30 seconds of being in there she calmed right down :vibes:

Next time round I wont make the arm straps so wide.

It has really yummy soft Bamboo batting to pad the waist and shoulders, so its super comfy :)

Made to this pattern

I don't think that one has a pattern, but the measurements for the pieces are at the bottom of it..

I have bookmarked this site http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/asian.html for making mine (I just got a piece of minky off Robyn to do mine too  )
I just need to get some matching drill from spotty next time I am in so I can make it. Was just going to make my own pattern based on the general shape.
Louise - CBE and SAHM to 6 children; 13, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2.
Angel mummy to MissK 11 and 2 little ^i^

just measure it out straight onto your fabric, it's all straight lines, I did one last year and found it easy so you'll find it super duper easy!!
