Maxi dress for + sizes - non stretch??

Maxi dress for + sizes - non stretch??

Postby stardust1 » Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:04 pm

Anyone have a pattern, or know of a pattern for a maxi dress that can use nice satin type material. Needs to be plus sized or easily converted to that.
I found some neat patterns at spotlight but they were all for a stretch which is reaaaallly not what I want (and the prints there were gross).

Not sure how it would go for the fabric you may be using.

wow she makes that look really simple.. altho she is tiny as, so I might need it to be more flared at parts to hide bits..

This is the one I wanted, unless I find some nice stretch knit that you don't see me coming a mile off, like you would in the fabric on that pattern..

I made something similar to that years ago (and I mean over years) but had buttons down the front and I used a light weight broadcloth from memory (was so light it was see through in the skirt with nothing behind it), but floated lovely and hid everything.

I'm pretty sure one of the burda magazines I have has something in it - as you're using satin I'm assuming it's more formal?
I'll see if I can find a link.

ummm not neccessarily formal, just really liked some satin I found at spotlight.. and really don't like any of the stretch knit stuff. I like to hide my cankles so want something long..

This is the kind of thing I'm looking for, but maybe I need to look for some nice knit..

OK, after a fun couple of hours flicking through magazines I've found myself a couple of things to make and picked out these ones that may match what you want. I think 132 in the 5/09 issue is the closest to your picture.

Some refs to burda website and other scanned images of the line drawings from the magazine - for some reason they don't keep them all available online - grrr

if you don't know someone down there that has the magazines then I'm happy to loan them if you pay post.
