well I am going to do the fabric baskets.

I should be able to sew nicely from stash for them.

I'll do some as part of a sew-a-long, but if the S-A-L is chosen to be something else ... I'll probably do em anyway.

I wasn't going to get as formal as a poll, was just thinking that those who wish to sew along could, and those who just wanted to quickly whip something up, or work at their own speed etc could, and then we can compare and pics etc of something different from the main sewalong may inspire the next bit, basically just getting people excited about sewing again without putting any pressure on (hopefully!)

So far it seems like the fabric baskets are a winner, and I'd like to do a quick one too - thinking the mice pin cushions Fi has done are uber cute so maybe some of them.
No time limit (so you can get stuck in now if you like ), feel free to choose something else, and please post pics and comment about the pattern, any improvements etc and any suggestions for the next project would be great!

OKay I did a basket... but its nowhere near stiff enough for my likeing... I think I need to put rods through the top to keep it square

yes, yes!! earlier last year I copied off a tute for fabric boxes ..... but who knows where that is ... these bags look just as good for holding toys!!

OK so I have been inspired to sew but haven't done any of the suggestions from here

I have made:
2 skirts for Sophie (one plain one and one ruffled one)
A soft toy bag/hammock that attaches to her bed
4 large drawstring bags for various toys with lots of bits
A frilly trim for Soph's doll's bassinett with matching blanket and pillow.

I really need to make a pin cushion I'm sick of dealing with pins in a container

I must admit I haven't made anything off the lists yet either, but I did make the kids a super hero cape each, sooooo sick of re-pegging bits of fabric on them every 5 minutes

I've cut out a book bag for DS1 and a knitting needle case for me...

I'm going to sew up the book bag before deciding if I can get away with snaps or if I should do velcro

Needle case I'm just slowly chugging away at one pocket at a time... I don't want to print the whole tutorial so I do a couple of steps then when I'm next on the computer read the next few steps etc...

a friend in wellsford (well port albert really) makes and sells book bags with snaps. They sell very well too.


my fabric box is a bit of a disaster - I inserted cane rods in the top to keep it square. I have another cut out and will definately do things slighlyt different. I need 3 decent ones for what I am planning for the boys room They will have hanging baskets instead of a dressing table.... the one I have that is wonky can become a matching lego box
