They've got some lovely wool.

I am thinking of getting some of their 8ply to knit an Olearia cardigan for DD1, is it soft? It would be a "going-out" cardy, so wouldn't get a lot of hard wear.

Bad news.. They're just reopened after being closed for Christmas, so probably a lot more noominess to be loaded onto the site.

For the question is the 8ply soft, they manufacture yarn so they don't have one 8ply wool, they have several bases. If there's a specific one you're looking at I may be able to tell you though.

What was their undyed yarn like

The organic merino is lovely, wears well too apparently. Really good value considering it's around $26 per 100g dyed.

The 8ply wool is comparable to TWC Perendale expect wears really well and is a bit softer. Southlander is the dyed version.

The 8ply machine washable wool is soft and hard wearing, takes forever to start pilling, then depills nicely with a fabric comb.

The 4ply merino is also nice, good for baby items, You can use it for socks, but they will wear out faster than a nylon blend. Great stitch definition for cables. Merino soft is the dyed version.

Both are the same shade, the machine wash is soft and hardwearing. I haven't knit with the alpaca/ merino, it's lovely and soft, the alpaca component can be a bit prickly. It's a lovely yarn though, it depends on what you want it for. The MW is definitely a good multipurpose yarn being soft as well as hardwearing.

I'm going to knit a cardigan for DD1, so it really needs to be non-scratchy or I will go to the trouble of knitting it up and then she won't wear it And being a typical assertive 3 year old she tells me it HAS to be pink...... I was going to order some Bendigo wool, but it only comes in 200gm hanks which equates to around 400m from memory and I need 485m to complete the project so probably better to buy 50gm balls.
