That is really cool! I wonder what dimensions it would need. Am I correct in thinking it would be 4.67". That's an odd dimension to work with.

Here is another take on it, http://valentinequiltworks.blogspot.com ... quilt.html

Just completed one, and love it so much, that I'm seriously tempted to do an entire quilt in it. I found I didn't pull out of shape as much as my log cabin.

That's so cool Robyn,

I'm tempted to do a whole quilt in it too, but put sashing (I think that's what it's called  ) between each block.

Is that where you do a strip between each one? I was wondering about whether to do that, or just join them together. I think both would look good.

Robin to do that block did you have to increase the dimensions?

Dimemsions were 4.67" to do a 12.5" block. However since I'm being lazy and doing my entire quilt in this, I am now just cutting to 4.5" to give me a 12" block. So much simpler than trying to work out the 4.67" mark.

Okay next question 8-[ if we are just doing this as Fi's sampler quilt along if the block ended up smaller than 12.5" are we going to still be able to use it. Says me using 12" rulers for all my measuring. Or should I just play it safe and do a simple 9 block.

I'd do 4 3/4" as I found it looked good cut down a mm or two, but you would have trouble making it larger, and it would warp the border if all the other blocks were larger.

Hey - I'm still trying to do the maths for this - I'll get my sister to do it for me when she gets back from taking the kids to swimming ;)

Your blocks all need to be 12.5" otherwise they won't line up. You can get away with easing about 1/4" over 12.5" but its too hard to seam if they are further out than that.
There is no reason why you can't do a simple 9 patch, adn then do another one after it. They don't use up much fabric and there isn't alot of cutting with this one.

:rotfl: You havent seen me with my rulers and tapes and then my good sewing scissors with a blunt spot thanks to DH or kids (and my other 3 are blunt). :smt044 If you convince me to become addicted to quilting then I will get the proper gears
