How do i PDF patterns?

How do i PDF patterns?

Postby grizle » Fri Apr 01, 2011 2:40 pm

I have a couple patterns i have drawn up for myself and wondering how one goes about getting them from a bit of paper into a PDF on the computer. Do i need special program to draw it in, do i scan it or is there another way? Help please.

You scan it in, make sure your settings don't scale it up or down.
Then download Cute PDF maker, it's free and will convert them

It's pretty easy :D

For my nappy patterns I drew up a grid in a publishing programme, with numbers in every second grid. (an important step I then learnt was to PDF the grid before the next step). Print out the PDFed grid. I then drew the outline onto the grid, and from there drew it on the computer using the grid as a guide for shape. Not sure it was the best way, but it worked for me! Oh, and I used a free PDF programme (PDF995 or something). DH's new work laptop with new MS Office has built in PDF file option.

I use Corel Draw or macromedia Freehand - they both have built in PDF and have rulers and grids etc so make drafting a pattern easier. But if you just want a couple of hand drawn ones and don't intend on selling them then scan and cute pdf.

Forgot to mention, with the gridlines, I drew them on a master page - for ease of deleting them once the object had been drawn. I hope that makes some sense?
