I just got sent the most gorgeous drawstring one, and all they did was fold the material in half and sew along the bottom and side, and then fold over the top and sew for the gap to thread a crochet cord thru. You might want something a bit more involved than that though lol

I made mine similar to this, but I started with two circles of fabric, attached each rectangle to the circles, sewed the side seems (leaving gap on inside one for turning), then sewed them together at the top right sides together. Then turned in the right way and sewed a channel at the top for a ribbon.

If you're into something a bit more fancy in the way of bags check out U-Handbag. I love the bags she designs. (Very tempted to purchase her book, and she's currently working on another one too!)

She has a free tutorials section that has a few free patterns for bags (any of the specialty handles/straps can just be replaced with basic fabric ones sewn on). I've made the 'For Pleat's Sake Tote' for a friend as a wip bag (I added a zip).

Or you can purchase patterns from her too.

I made the 'Pretty Pinafore Purse' (you can see it here on my blog) as my wip bag. It can fit more than one project at a time if I'm going out and not sure what I want to work on  and I love the internal pockets to keep all the 'extras' and patterns in order.
