I have a Janome 134, bought off TM 6 + years ago for $130. I knew little about overlockers then, it is a 4 thread (essential!), but doesn't have differential feed (which to be honest I don't really know if I miss it

). I was going to upgrade a few years back, but the guy whom serviced it said it was a great machine and never to part with it! So, I've held onto his expert opinion and stuck with it. Found a rolled hem plate for $50 which is a key feature IMO. I'm happy, I don't need anything else.
I was speaking with the Wellington Sewing guy a few years back (when buying my coverpro) and he said that Janome is a great reliable brand - their quality is consistent from the entry end, right through to mid- & upper- range. I see a few people here have Brother overlockers, I'm personally wary of Brother due to my Mum's issues with her (sewing) machine. But, it appears it has a good fan base on here!
I think you'll love having an overlocker, especially with all the knits that you have access to!
