Id love to turn some merino I have here into a sleeping bag, and some leggings for the kids. But I so cannot sew it. What am I doing wrong? It wont overlock... the stitch goes off the edge...(what tension should it be on on a brother?) if i cut it it just rolls straight up into a tube
If you have any spray starch that can help with the rolling for a while - spray starch on and iron to set it flat. When you say it goes off the edge what do you mean - does the stitching pull off after you have sewed or can you not get it to run straight through so the fabric veers off before being caught and stitched?
If the fabric is veering off before you can get it under the presser foot properly then you could try - - cutting a larger seam allowance so more fabric is being caught under the foot (does mean more wastage though). - if your presser foot is adjustable try tweaking this a bit - it may need to be tightened up a bit to provide more pressure. - guide the fabric in much closer so you are only releasing it as it tucks in under the foot.
