Covering an office desk??

Any ideas how I could do this?

I HATE our office desk, it's just chipboard or something and the kids have drawn on it/DH has spilled drinks on it etc.

Was thinking of painting but I can't move the desk out of the office and knowing me i'll end up painting some of the wall as well LOL, so perhaps covering it with something?

Id just decoupage it with co fabric or paper

Make sure you give it a decent sand so its a nice smooth surface. And then i just use pva glue and wster it down a lil - but largw bottle from bunnings. You can buy modpodge from spoty but its $$ for small bottle and tbh you will need a lot for a table.

I used wrapping paper to do dd's wardrobe. It looks good but if you use wrapping paper (cos its cheap and comes in lots of pretty prints) have your pieces precut snd work fast. You cant glue and place paper down and then pull it up again very often if at all, also dont rub too hard on it, esp if its tuin paper as it will bubble. For dd's table i used a print i got blown i to a poster snd thst was easy to glue.

Hhen just poly over it or use a nice gloss finish stuff for tables (its right by the poly and looks similsr) - both about $20 tin from mitre10 (bunnings too prob). I do a coat or two thinly then lightly sand VERY lightly - its only to take off the grit from the top to give it a nice smooth finish then another coat or two. Top id prob go for 5 coats and he rest probably on 3-4, but im a bit ott with my poly and like to make sure its all sealed up nicely

Hmm...if i'm going to sand/varnish I might have to dismantle it. It's built to fit the room & can't get it out the door without taking it apart.
