toilet training undies

dd has decided she wants to use the potty. ok im fine with that but she has to wear something to take the bulk of any poops or wees. she has been wearing pul nappies domed up loosest as 'pullups' and i have just whipped up 3 undies so she now has 4 in total

atm she has a cotton velour wipe folded in half on the inside so wees dont just go straight through but she knows its wet and it does leak as well.

i was thinking of sewing a couple of layers of velour into the nappies kinda like a very thin aio undie type of thing? would that work?

should i use pul or hemp/mf as well?

Maybe a layer of microfibre with cotton topper in an hourglass shape?
Dry nice and quick that way.

I made some for Isla with cotton on the outside and bamboo flecce on the inside. They didn't hold much tho, so go for PUL if you really want pee-proof undies!

Pee proof undies are called nappies

Yeah, you don't want to make them too thick, because I think the thin-ness of knickers / undies reminds them that they can't wee in them. Too many layers and they are more likely to treat them like nappies, IME.

I have made some for DS. They are an hourglass shape insert that i've sewn into a normal pair of undies. I got the idea off someone on TNN actually. Mine have a backing layer of PUL, an absorbant layer of microfibre and a top layer of flannelette. They are great. They catch all the wee, yes pants still get wet, but i don't get puddles on the floor . You could put whatever you have got in for the absorbant layer too.

thats what im thinking of doing as well - nice thin contoured shape. Think it was shortly that makes her training undies. i was going to buy some but i have so much nappy fabric and cottn lycra here that i really should make them!
yeah i want her to feel them as undies rather than nappies. the two layers of cotton velour seems to go well so far (wipe folded in half), its not too thick but absorbant enough to grab most of the wee before it hits the floor, but it soaks the undies as well so she knows right away and comes runnign to me yelling bum bum

i might do a couple of undies with pul lined as well for outings etc. so they are thin but not going to soak her clothes if she wets

well i just sat down and quickly drafted a pattern now have 8 undies cut out and overlocked - now to added elastic edges and do the pee pad part -- maybe after tea
