Ok I think I'll go for Tan skin fabric - just enough for 1 doll as I don't see myself making any extras And whatever tubing you are ordering - either the gauze or the other one Lauren was talking about. I'll just follow your lead
I have a heap of fabric fill here that I bought once to make cushions...and never got around to it. The bag is still unopened There would be plenty to share with the ChCh girls especially if just being used for the body with wool stuffing for the head. I assume the rest of the stuff we can get locally easily enough from Spotty or somewhere?
I'm getting excited...this little girl of mine has got me learning to knit, making dolls, wanting to crochet...and she's not even 1 yet. Wonder what else she'll convince me to try

If you don't double it over, how do you create the top of the head?

I might invest in a full roll for me and the other Chch girls

I've just been tying some strong thread round it really tightly then chopping close to this. when i put the stockinette over the head i do it so the tufty end is inside.
When you are covering over with skin/hair a few stitches end up going through the top so you don't have to worry about it not holding long term

These are the instructions I have

Start by sewing across the top of the tubular gauze in gathering stitch, about ½” from the top. Turn it inside out so it looks like a sock.

Is it to late to add an order? and do you have any idea on postage costs as when I added my order to the cart it came out to about $42 for postage which seems very steep

The fabric is quite heavy. I know when I ordered last year I needed to keep the amount ordered under a certain amount (can't remember how much now sorry), because there was a huge jump between the cost of freight. Once it was split between those of us that ordered it wasn't too bad.

I decided to email about postage and she emailed back saying it would weigh around 9lbs and the postage calculator comes back saying it would cost $70ish US to post which works out approx $11NZ/yd and $22NZ/ roll of gauze.

I'm happy with the rough costings, it may be a bit more or less. I won't know until it is shipped.

If everyone agrees with the postage, let me know and I'll definitely order tonight. If it looks like you can't afford it - let me know too and I'll drop your order.

Can I please just get 1 yard of blush fabric and no tubing as my pattern doesn't require any tubing

I did see that if we got more tan it would be cheaper but I want to make my dolls look like my kids and they are pale

We're heading away next week, so I'm hoping to have this all sorted before we go. Just in case I forget later

Anyway, I've weighed everyones stuff and worked out a % of cost and adjusted the totals as necessary, sorry to all those that are paying a bit more than my guestimate

I'm thinking that most will fit in a $4 or $5 prepaid NZ Post bag. If you know any cheaper postage options let me know and I'll try to sort it out.
